Back in the saddle again

For the last few month I have been a wee bit stressed. I have been stressed about some medical tests. In December I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. It was stage one. We were able to schedule a LEAP in January. When they did a biopsy on the cervix tissue that they extracted it had rapidly changed. So…basically for the last few months I have been stressed while waiting to see what would happen.
I had tests done last week and on Friday I got the results. For now….they can not find anything. My cervix has healed and the new tissue growing seems to be fine. I will go back every 3 months for a lovely exam but for now…I’m doing GREAT. Now I truly feel I can get back to my regular programming and live a little again! WOO HOO!

Rescue Hero

I have been negligent about posting lately I know. I have a little boy that feels that Rescue Heros are more important than me writing on my blog. Can you believe that? He has discovered the world of Rescue Heros. Our lives will never be the same.
My sister gave me a tub of Heros. She also gave me this GIGANTIC aquatic center. HOLY CRIPES this thing is bigger than HG’s doll houses. I think it’s the boys rendition of a doll house. Instead of the lights clicking on when you push a button you get “Commander there’s a fire at the Arctic station! ALERT ALERT!” Instead of the telephone ringing when you push down on the receiver you get, ” WE ARE HERE TO PROTECT AND SERVE!” Truly it is a nice set but it is HUGE!
We are still discovering the helicopters and the jet packs. Today it will be the fireman and the aquatic guard. I need to hang on to my hat today. It is another thrilling adventure provided by none other than our imaginations. Hope I make it out alive.

Just a word of love

I have been having high blood pressure problems. I did not know how much it bothered my children until I got a phone call from 3 dance teacher. At the end of each class they take prayer requests and pray. Yesterday HG named her request with great nervousness…”My mommy is sick. Her heart beats hard and fast. When she is like that it makes her tired and upset. I get scared when she is hurt because I have to take care of everything. (this is a slight exaggeration on her part but none the less) It scares her too. Please pray that she will be OK and that her heart will be OK.” Then she proceeded to cry.
The teacher and I are friends so when she called I thought nothing of it. When she explained why she was calling I felt bad. She explained what HG had said and was worried that I was not OK. When I explained that I was OK just having a bit of high blood pressure there was a sigh of relief. She gave me the most touching compliment that I think I have ever received. She said…”I can see the love that HG has for you. She expresses it through her words of concern and her prayers. You are such a rock for your children. You are there for them every single day. You can tell that she is loved beyond measure. I can see it in her self confidence as she is now getting older. I can see the adoration she has for you because I watch her. I see that she watches everything you do. She wants to be just like you.”
After I hung up the phone I cried for a while. After having a rough week with her I now see why she was being difficult. She was pushing me away because she was afraid to lose me. She could not express that to me but finally found a safe place where she could sit and verbalize her feelings.
She’s turning into quite the young lady. Quite a young lady indeed.

*One day when you are reading this HG I want you to know that you are a love. I want you to know that you are so precious and so loved. In the hard times I want you to read this and know that I am proud of you. Everything that you do, everything that you touch is lovelier because you have influenced it. You are my sunshine, my bug, my peet a pea, and most important of all…you are the gift I never expected to have but was blessed enough to receive.

Let me just say….I love it when my husband is whispering sweet nothings and adds, “…..and the kids can go with me! Go take a bath. Go to the store by yourself. Run undressed in the house. I’ll see you in a couple hours!” *quick kiss and they’re off.
*sigh…ok it’s kind of quiet. It is freaking me out a little. May be I’ll turn on the radio.

Flashback Friday

Today I was reading over at This Mom’s Blog and saw that there was Flashback Friday. Before I have not participated because the stories would have been so long and so drawn out I would have lost you at hello! First Crush is the topic and I can do that. Heaven help me I was so boy crazy at such a young age that I don’t know if I can nail down my first crush.
The strange thing is that there was only one crush that I never caught. I had a crush on a guy from our church named John. Oh John! I was in 7th grade and he would make my heart skip a few beats. He was in his junior year when I was in 7th grade. He was tall with clear beautiful skin. (rarity for our age group!) He was soft spoken and kind. He had two sisters. One was a year younger than me and one was a year older than him. His eyes were brown his hair black. (not my usual “hottie” combination) I melted every time he came in the room. He was athletic and extremely smart. A real honey to me.
John went on to graduate and go to college. There in college he became the kind of lawyer people do not write jokes about. He then went to work in Washington D. C. and is still litigating there.
About 13 years ago John got married. I was still single (yet with Hula Hubby) but for some reason his name still made my heart skip. He was and still is a good strong and solid man. He still has the heart of a lion but the meekness of a mouse. He still has the beautiful brown eyes and lovely skin. Now he has a son that will probably drive all of the girl’s batty.

Hallmark doesn’t have it

Valentines Day has never been my hubby’s strong point. His point has always been why should he oblige Hallmark and just pick one day out of the year to show me that he loves me. When we were first together I thought he was just trying to squeeze out of getting a gift for me. Now that we’ve been married 11 plus years I see it different. Every day in some way shape or form he shows me that he loves me. Whether it’s through a phone call or a note left in a spot that he’ll know I’ll find it, a look, playing with the children so that I can take a bath I know daily that he is there for me and loves me.
So like always this Valentines Day will not be filled with flowers or candy. It was simply marked with a hand written note on my bedside table that read, ” Step by Step, Day by Day, Hand in Hand together through life”. That was the same thing written on our wedding invitation 11 plus years ago. He still remembers. I love that.

Neighbor Fun!

I love it when my neighbor girl comes over. She’s 10 and she’s a clean freak! I love it because whenever she comes over to play with Hula Girl they end up playing “School House” or ” Mommy and Baby” then VOILĄ Hula Girl’s room is cleaned down to the baseboards!
Then they want to surprise me. That’s always great! Normally the surprise is organizing another room in my house or picking up a room. Last time they cleaned my room and made my bed. You got to love it, a willing participant.
So today we are straightening the upstairs and we are playing Cinderella. WOW I love this!
