There are those days when we wonder how human Pooter thinks he is. Today is one of those days.
I generally once a week go to the grocery store. HG has to bring a snack every day to school and I need odds and ends for the week. I have been curious as to the weekly disappearance of the Goldfish crackers. I would lock up the pantry when we’re home. (because HB has a bad habit of trying to scale the shelves) Things seemed to be disappearing out of the pantry at a rapid speed.
The top 3 items that would go missing every week were the Pretzel and Cheddar Goldfish and shortbreak cookies. Strange combo. I tried everything from changing shelves to hiding them.
So I went one step further and decided to video the pantry for a few days to see when the kids were sneaking the snacks. The results were astonishing.
It seems that when I leave for MOPS or to take HG to school the cat would open the pantry door. (I never thought to lock it when I left for a school drop) The cat would then bat the crackers off the shelf and the dog would eat EVERYTHING. (including the paper) TALK ABOUT TEAM EFFORT. I wonder if the dog had to talk the cat into this? The cat would enjoy a few crackers but the dog would reap the most benefit. Since I am not the cleaner of the yard I never noticed little bits of paper! EEEEWWWW!
So the Goldfish Caper is solved. The pantry will remain locked at all times. I swear those sneaky animals are as bad as the kids!
